A Few Recent Shots of Henry

I recently trimmed the hair on Henry's head and neck, and he looks much more cocker-spaniel-like now, with his little domed head showing a bit better (and I've even trimmed his eye-lashes). Before, he was definitely a bit of a scruff-bag. There's still some work to do (his coat is a never-ending battle!), but I think he's looking quite fine at the moment! As a result, the camera is on him quite frequently. Here's a few recent shots; he just looks so sad in most of them.

He's recently started making a strange noise to me in the afternoons, after dinner, before he goes out to play with his dog-friends in the park ("dog club"). He goes rao-rao-rao and eventually almost howls - it's his way of saying "I want to go out and play, right now!". I uploaded a couple of videos of this on youtube (here's the first, second and third - he's looking particularly scruffy in the first couple!), but here's some photos of him in action - pursing his little moosh! He gets quite croaky and very sad-sounding, so he always gets a good cuddle afterwards (and his play in the park with his friends and his favourite green ball).

I just got a new wide-angle lens and of course the first subject I had to try it out on was Henry, my little muse. Not the most flattering angle! No doubt there will be more...

New Kid on the Block

There's a new puppy in town! This is Roxy, a three-month old springer spaniel. Just love her little pink and brown nose. She seems to be smiling for the camera!

Dog of the Day - 16th March 2014

What a glorious weekend it's been in London! Spring is most definitely here; in fact, today would've passed as a fine summer's day.

We went on a long walk down to Wandsworth Common, but were back for the usual group meet-up nearer to home. Henry made a new friend - Chilli the Chihuahua, who finally posed for me a couple of times in the late afternoon sun.

Here's to many more days of lovely weather in Parsons Green!

Dog of the Day - 22nd August 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is the gorgeous Archie again. He's a miniature poodle crossed with a Powderpuff Chinese Crested dog - not the hairless one - and is just over a year old now. He's got a lot less shy and sometimes I even get kisses from him! He won't let anyone else throw the ball for him other than his mummy though. What a smiley little chap he is!

Dog of the Day - 14th August 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is one that I'll never see again :(

Katy is now on her way to the States, where her family is relocating back to. She's a sometimes-feisty little Scottie (Scottish Terrier) who's given the other dog owners some entertainment in the last year, chasing other dogs with balls one minute and flirting outrageously with others the next. She and her family will be missed around here. These pictures were taken last December, hence the frosty grass and fallen leaves.

Good luck Katy on your Stateside adventures.

Dog of the Day - 5th August 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is one of Henry's best friends. His name is Gilbert and he's a 9-month-old cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles spaniel crossed with a poodle). Usually this breed is a little smaller, as the spaniel is crossed with one of the smaller poodles (a toy or miniature). The owners have been rather surprised at how big he's grown, and everyone comments on how big he is too! It doesn't matter, though, as he's an absolutely adorable chap, and he keeps Henry happy rolling around on the grass for hours!

Dog of the Day - 2nd August 2013

Henry hasn't been the Dog of the Day for a while, so here he is!

These are a couple of recent photos of the little chap who's 15 months old this weekend; the older he gets, the longer his eyelashes seem to grow (now 2.5")!

With all the hot weather we've been having his new favourite sleeping place is on the marble fireplace; sometimes he looks a complete eejit.

Dog of the Day - 29th July 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is Lazlo, a 3-year-old Coton de Tulear. I'd never heard of the breed before I met this one - assumed he was a mix of a terrier with something else. They have hair rather than fur, almost like cotton (hence the name) and are the national dog of Madagascar! Very cute little chap.

Dog of the Day - 28th July 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is a one-year-old Weimeraner called Sammy. She loves to play catch and roll on the ground, encouraging my little chap to follow suit. Weimeraners are such elegant, fine-looking dogs. I particularly love the work of William Wegman, who takes creative photos and videos of his Weimeraner brood.

Dog of the Day - 23rd July 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is the beautiful Monty, a solid black cocker spaniel who is nearly 4. I tried a while back to get a good shot of him, but sometimes he is quite vocal, so his mouth is was moving! Finally managed to snap him while he's talking to me but not moving his head!

Dog of the Day - 28th May 2013

It's been a slow month for my dog photography. The weather's been generally atrocious, my in-laws have been here, and I've got to a point where I've taken photos of most of the dogs in the neighbourhood! Well, not quite, but I did actually suddenly get worried that it might be inappropriate to put photos on the web, with locations and the dogs' names, given the horrible prevalence for dog theft in the UK at the moment.

So today the Dog of the Day is going to be Henry again, who I will never stop taking photos of! I capture him in all sorts of positions (usually when he's on the sofa, looking a bit pissed off). Here is a shot of him doing just that. It's focused on his nose, which I used to be a bit obsessed with (but at least with the 5D the old macro lens doesn't work, so it's not that close). I don't think that the eyes have to be in focus in every shot.

If he could talk I reckon he'd be saying "mummy, get that thing away from my face; you know I don't like it!" Okay, enough of the anthropomorphising...

I made a collage a couple of weeks ago that show an array of his usual expressions. There will be more soon, no doubt!

Dog of the Day - 3rd April 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is actually another dog I met yesterday (the light was awful again today!). This is Rocky, a year-old border terrier. I first met him a couple of months ago and was having a little chat with his owner as Henry and Rocky pottered about, and the next thing I knew the little chap had cocked his leg and taken a little tinkle down my jeans. I thought it was hilarious but his owner was absolutely mortified. I met them again a few weeks ago and he still said how embarrassed he was about it. The little man hasn't done it since, which is a relief for his owner, but I still find the whole thing quite amusing.

Anyway, no more pee on my leg - he had a good little play with Henry and his new favourite toy - a green rubber ball on a rope from Sainsbury's!

Dog of the Day - 8th Feb 2013

Today's dog of the day is my very own little chap - Henry, who has just turned 9 months old! He often stops in the park, looking a bit pensive (or maybe vacant!).
